BLAST, ESPN ZONE TO HOST STAR-SPANGLED SING-OFF
Winner will sing the National Anthem before the March 5 Game

The Baltimore Blast and ESPN Zone have teamed up for a “Star-Spangled Sing-Off” on Tuesday, February 23 at 6 p.m. at Baltimore’s ESPN Zone.  Singers of all ages are invited to compete for the opportunity to sing the National Anthem before the Blast game against the Philadelphia KiXX on March 5.

In the opening round of the singing competition, contestants will sing 30 seconds of any song other than the Star-Spangled Banner. Five finalists will advance to the final round and each will sing the National Anthem in its entirety. The contest will be judged by a panel of experts, including Blast players Mike Lookingland and Carlos Garcia, and fans at the event will also be able to cast votes for the winner.  Anyone interested in entering the competition can email their name and complete contact information to nationalanthem@espnzone.com.

The 2009-10 season marks the 30th season of professional indoor soccer in Baltimore, making Baltimore the only city in the United States to boast 30 consecutive years of professional soccer.  The Blast, who have won five of the last seven league championships, are 5-7 on the season and are in a three-way tie for third place in the MISL.  The team will host the Monterrey La RaZa Friday night.  Friday is also mini soccer ball night and the first 2,000 kids 14 and under will receive a free mini soccer ball.

Single-game tickets are available at the 1st Mariner Arena Box Office and at all TicketMaster outlets including TicketMaster phonecharge at 410-547-SEAT.  Tickets can also be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com.  Tickets cost $30, $22, $19 and $16.  For additional information on Blast tickets, call the Blast at 410-73-BLAST.
