Blast Shuts Out Rampage in 9-0 Win

After nearly 32 minutes of scoreless play, Rod Dyachenko scored the first of four second-half goals to give the Blast the 9-0 victory over the Rockford Rampage Sunday evening.  Back in goal, Sagu made 16 saves en route to the second shutout of his Blast career.   With the win, the Blast improve to 7-7 on the season and move into sole possession of the coveted third place spot in the MISL standings.    
Dyachenko's goal came at 1:54 of the third quarter and Robbie Aristodemo extended the Blast lead to 4-0 late in the quarter.

Machel Millwood opened the final quarter with a goal at 3:05 and defender Billy Nelson sealed the victory and the shutout with a three-point goal against Rockford's sixth-attacker offense in the final minute of play.

With head coach Danny Kelly and assistant coach David Bascome at the helm, the Blast is led by Lucio Gonzaga who has 28 points this season.  All-time leading
scorer Denison Cabral has 27 points and Millwood follows with 25 points.  Rookie Max Ferdinand, who recorded a hat trick in the Blast’s 12-8 win over La RaZa on Friday, ranks fourth on the team with 21 points.  Sagu, Baltimore’s starting goalkeeper was back on the field Sunday after missing Friday’s game due to an MISL red-card suspension.  The Blast boasts the best defense in the league this season, having allowed just 64 goals (137 points) in 14 games.
The Blast played Sunday without rookie Adriano Dos Santos (elbow), Carlos Garcia (illness), Adrian Bumbut and Logan Alexander.

* This was the second shutout in Blast history (Sagu has earned both of them); the last shutout was March 22, 2008 in a 13-0 win over the Chicago Storm.
* Dyachenko's goal was his second of the season; his first was Friday night in the 12-8 win over Monterrey.
* Newly signed defender Zach Wilkes recorded his second assist of the season; his first assist was Friday night.
* The Blast are now in third place, 1.5 games behind the first-place Monterrey La RaZa, with six games to go in the regular season.
