Blast Earns 12-8 Victory Over the KiXX Friday

Chuck Hatcher, Sam Jones and Wali Jones are Coming to Baltimore

Led by a hat trick from Denison Cabral, the Baltimore Blast improved to 9-7 on the season with a 12-8 win over the visiting Philadelphia KiXX Friday night at 1st Mariner Arena.

Forward Lucio Gonzaga gave Baltimore an early 2-0 lead but the lead was short-lived as the February MISL Defender of the Month, Pat Morris, tied the game at 2-2 a minute later.  The Blast took over in the tenth minute when Cabral went on a three-goal scoring spree that lasted just two minutes and 29 seconds to put the Blast on top 8-2.

The Blast started the second quarter with another goal, this time from Giuliano Celenza, extending the lead to 10-2.

After almost 12 scoreless minutes in the third quarter, KiXX player/head coach Don D'Ambra scored to cut the Blast lead to 10-4.

The KiXX scored two goals early in the fourth quarter, cutting into Baltimore's lead to make it 10-8 with 11 minutes remaining before rookie Max Ferdinand scored his eighth goal of the season to keep the Blast on top and seal the 12-8 victory.

The Baltimore Blast teamed up with the Island Soccer League, Hope4Life and Champions4Champions to bring several world-renown sports legends to the Blast game.  Chuck Hatcher, Sam Jones and Wali Jones attended the Blast game, broadcasted their “Sports Inside and Out – Legends of Sports” Internet radio show from the game and were available for autographs.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for the Baltimore Blast to bring these legends to town," said Blast President and General Manager Kevin Healey.  "I am honored that they have decided to come to the Blast game on March 5th.  The Hope4Life program, headed up by Blast assistant coach David Bascome, is a program that we believe will help the children in our community.  Being a positive role model in the community is an important goal for the Blast and I hope everyone takes the opportunity to attend the game, meet these legends and support the Hope4Life cause."

The third-place Baltimore Blast have won their last four games.  The team will host the Monterrey La RaZa Saturday night in their second home game in 24 hours.
