BLAST TEAMS UP WITH MANCHESTER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB TO PROVIDE SOCCER CLINICS
Local Youth Players to Train with the Pros from England
The Baltimore Blast has joined forces with Manchester City Football Club of the English Premier League to bring a series of youth soccer clinics to Baltimore. The clinics took place Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31 in conjunction with Manchester City’s game against Inter Milan at M&T Bank Stadium on July 31.
The first of the three clinics took place on Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at the soccer facility at Towson University. The first session was geared towards Under-14 boy’s teams from throughout the Baltimore Metropolitan area. The second clinic began at 2 p.m. on Friday and featured local Under-14 girl’s teams. The final clinic in the series took place Saturday morning less than 12 hours before Manchester City kicked off against Inter Milan in a friendly match at M&T Bank Stadium. The Saturday-morning clinic was for Under-18 teams and ran from 9 a.m. to noon.
All three of the filled-to-capacity Manchester City clinics were held on the campus of Towson University and were free to the youth soccer players. In addition to the training from MCFC coaches, the youth players received a T-shirt, courtesy of MCFC and Umbro. The Baltimore Blast invited youth players from Rec. Councils all over the Baltimore area to participate in the free sessions with MCFC.
The Blast is currently hosting youth summer soccer camps all over the Baltimore area until the end of August. For more information on summer soccer camps and the upcoming 2010-11 season, go to www.baltimoreblast.com.
