31st Season of Baltimore Soccer Will Begin on November 19

The Baltimore Blast has announced the full schedule for the 2010-11 season.  The team will open the season at 1st Mariner Arena on Friday, November 19 against the Chicago Riot, the newest MISL club.  The Blast will play 20 games, 10 at home and 10 on the road, and will compete this season against the Chicago Riot, Milwaukee Wave, Missouri Comets and Omaha Vipers.

2010-11 season highlights include six games against the Riot and six games against the Blast’s long-time rival, the Milwaukee Wave.  The Blast will play the other two new MISL teams, the Omaha Vipers and the Missouri Comets, four times each with the Comets visiting Baltimore for the first time on December 11.  The Vipers will make their Baltimore Debut on December 18.  In total, the Blast will play four home games on Friday nights, four home games on Saturday nights and two home games on Sunday evenings.  The Friday and Saturday games will kick off at 7:35 p.m. and the Sunday games will start at 5:05 p.m.
Keeping with the Baltimore Blast tradition of affordable family entertainment, fans will be treated to various promotional items throughout the season including T-shirts and soccer balls.  The team will host a variety of theme nights including Boy and Girl Scout night and a post-game Christian concert.  In addition, the team will induct at least one additional player into the Blast Hall of Fame on December 11.  The Christian Youth Night concert will be March 4 following the Blast vs. Chicago game; the Blast game ticket includes admission to the post-game concert.

The Blast will open training camp on October 25 with head coach Danny Kelly and assistant coach David Bascome returning for their fifth season together on the coaching staff.  At the conclusion of the regular season, the top three MISL teams will qualify for the postseason.  The second- and third-place teams will face each other in a home-and-home Semifinal series with the winner advancing to battle the top seed.  The top seed will receive a bye in the opening round and will host the Championship Game.
