Playing in their second road game in 24 hours, the Blast earned a 12-6 victory over the Wichita Wings Saturday night at Hartman Arena. The Blast earned their first win of the season Friday night, a 10-8 overtime victory over the Comets.
In a streaky first half, the Blast and Wings traded the lead three times with the Blast taking a 10-4 lead into the locker room at halftime. Baltimore got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 4-0 lead, after first-quarter goals from Ptah Myers and Carlos Garcia. The Wings fought back early in the second quarter, tying the game at 4-4 on two goals from Jamar Beasley. The Blast offense regained control late in the first half with back-to-back three-point goals from Adauto Neto and Pat Healey to give the Blast a 10-4 lead at halftime.
After more than 13 scoreless minutes in the third quarter, Blast forward Max Ferdinand scored a power-play goal to extend Baltimore's lead to 12-4. The Wings scored the last goal of the game cut the Blast lead to 12-6. Ferdinand has recorded one goal in each of the Blast's three games so far this season.
The Blast will play their next three games on the road, with Thanksgiving weekend games in Rochester on Saturday and Syracuse on Sunday.
