Blast Wins, 10-4, in Rochester Saturday Night

The Blast won their fifth straight game and improved to 5-1 with a 10-4 win over the Rochester Lancers Saturday night.  Defender Mike Lookingland led the way with two goals and one assist.

Stephen DeRoux and Adriano Dos Santos scored 49 seconds apart in the first quarter to give the Blast an early 4-0 lead.  It was the first goal of the season for both players.  Lookingland scored in the 10th minute to put the Blast on top, 6-0.

After nearly 12 minutes of back-and-forth play in the second quarter, Rochester's Josiah Snelgrove was called for a two-minute tripping penalty but Baltimore's league-leading power-play unit was unable to convert, and instead gave up a short-handed goal to Gary Boughton to cut the Blast lead to 6-2.

The Blast wasted no time stifling the Lancers' momentum, scoring two goals in the first five minutes of the second half to extend their lead to 10-2.  Lookingland scored his second goal of the night at 1:02 then assisted Machel Millwood at 4:19.  Rochester's 42-year-old veteran Doug Miller cut Baltimore's lead to 10-4 with a goal at 7:39.

The Blast will return to 1st Mariner Arena next weekend to host the Missouri Comets on Friday and Syracuse Silver Knights on Saturday.  Friday is Purple Pride night as the Blast will be joined by Torrey Smith who will host a "Throw to the Pro" event at halftime.
