The Blast chalked up their second win of the season tonight with a score of 12-0, improving their record to 2-2 against the Rochester Lancers.
The Lancers and the Blast begin an electric game at 7:35pm at Baltimore Arena, playing in front of a crow of 6023 spectators. Adauto Neto gives Baltimore their first two points of the game with 2:46 minutes remaining in the first quarter. Only a minute later at 13:13 minutes into the match, Lucas Roque adds two more points with a goal assisted by Stephen DeRoux, leaving the Blast ahead 4-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Both teams find trouble scoring during the second quarter in a fierce battle of skill. Freddy Moojen finally finds the back of the net at 14:57 minutes off of a pass by Levi Houapeu and extends Baltimore’s lead to 6-0. Rochester remains scoreless heading into the second half.
The action resumes in the third quarter as each team takes the field for another hard-fought half. Despite a solid display by Rochester’s defense, Baltimore’s Marco Mangione bypasses the Lancer’s keeper and scores with a goal assisted by Tony Donatelli 3:19 minutes into the quarter.
The Blast leads their opponent 8-0 at the start of the fourth quarter. At 2:29 minutes in, J.T. Noone carves his way through Rochester’s midfield and finds Freddy Moojen, who launches the ball in the back of the net to earn his second goal of the game. The Blast continue their point streak as Tony Donatelli increases their lead to 12-0, scoring a goal assisted by Mike Lookingland at 7:01 minutes into the fourth quarter.
William Vanzela recorded 9 saves.
With the blow of the final whistle, the Baltimore Blast leave the field with their first shutout since 1991.
