BLAST SETS RECORDS IN WIN AGAINST THE PENNSYLVANIA ROAR

 

For the second time in two nights, the Baltimore Blast unleashed a scoring frenzy versus the Pennsylvania Roar, winning 29-0. The 5,638 fans in attendance watched a historic game as the Blast recorded their biggest margin of victory at Home. The Blast also defeated the Roar, 21-2, in Friday’s night game and have outscored the Roar 50-2 in the past two games. 
 
The Blast wasted little time as they jumped out to an early lead, scoring 8 points in the first quarter. Freddy Moojen started the offensive barrage, and scored at 1:17 into the game off an assist from Diego Zuniga. A little over two minutes later, Tony Donatelli got onto the board with an assist from Lucas Roque. At 7:05, Max Ferdinand scored the 6th point of the game, unassisted. Drew Yates closed out the first quarter scoring off an assist from Patrick Healey.
 
The second quarter was more of the same for the Blast as they added another 8 points. Under a minute into the quarter, Yates tallied his second goal, assisted by Adauto Neto. Ferdinand also scored his second goal of the game at 7:18 with the second assist of the night from Healey. Fifteen seconds later, Team Captain Mike Lookingland assisted Diego Zuniga on the Blast’s 7th goal of the game. The assist also gave Lookingland his 200th point of his career. Moojen, was the third Blast player to score two goals in the first half, as he scored at 6:16, on an assist from J.T. Noone. 
 
The Blast stayed red hot into the second half, as Ferdinand earned his hat trick three minutes into the third quarter, assisted by Stephen DeRoux. In the next three minutes, the Blast recorded two more goals. Marco Mangione, scored the 20th point of the game, assisted by Mike Deasel, and Ferdinand recorded his fourth goal on Roque’s second assist of the night. At 8:00, Lookingland scored a 3-point power play goal, assisted by Ferdinand. The Blast scored again on a later powerplay, as Lucio Gonzaga scored on a play assisted by Lookingland.
 
The Blast continued their strong play in the final quarter and finished their shutout of the Roar. They scored their final points on Roque’s 8:46 DeRoux-assisted goal. For the first time in team history, the Blast have recorded two consecutive home shutouts. Ferdinand also recorded four goals tonight after his hat trick in last night’s performance. Goalkeeper William Vanzela has recorded two consecutive shut outs at home and had 8 saves in tonight’s match.
