Missouri Takes Game 1 in Series

MISSOURI TAKES GAME 1 IN SERIES

The Blast traveled to Missouri tonight to play in Game 1 of the Championship series. Baltimore ended the night with a 15-8 loss against the Comets, who scored 5 three-point goals. Blast return home on Sunday to play game 2 and potentially game 3, as they look to win back-to-back championships.

The Blast got on the board quickly after J.T. Noone scored 2 points 4:01 into the game off an assist from Tony Donatelli, which was followed by another quick 2 points by Max Ferdinand at 4:50. Missouri’s Vahid Assadpour soon returned the favor, scoring a 3-pointer from a power play at 8:06, assisted by John Sosa. At the end of the first quarter, the Blast led the Comets, 4-3.
 
The Blast and the Comets were deadlocked in a scoreless second quarter, as neither team found any additional points. At the end of the first half, Baltimore maintained their lead above Missouri, 4-3.
 
Missouri opened the second half with guns blazing, scoring two quick three-point goals. At 3:45 in the third quarter, Assadpour netted the ball from an assist by Bryan Perez; and again at 4:31, Stefan St. Louis found three more points from a goal assisted by Danny Waltman, leaving Baltimore behind 9-4.

In the 4th quarter, Assadpour completed a hat rick by scoring 3 more points for Missouri at 5:27, putting the Comets ahead 12-4. Brian Harris of the Comets added another 3 points, assisted by Lucas Rodriguez, at 12:34 and increased their lead to 15-4. J.T. Noone answered Missouri’s call, scoring two more consecutive goals and adding 4 more points at 13:24 and 13:51, the second assisted by Max Ferdinand.
 
Noone led the Blast’s offensive charge, scoring 6 points in the game. Defensively, Patrick Healey led with 4 blocks and goalkeeper Troy Hernandez, in for the injured William Vanzela, recorded 15 saves for the game. The Blast will play Missouri for Game 2 in the series at home this Sunday at 5:05pm.
