BLAST DEFEAT WAVE 13-8
The Blast hosted the Milwaukee Wave on Friday night for the first time this season. In a game well played game from both sides, the Blast defeated the Wave 13-8.
The game got off to a fast start for the Blast. Pat Healey started the scoring when he was able to get his head on a Tony Donatelli pass at the 3:21 mark. Lucas Roque followed with 2 goals of his own, the first off an assist by Lucio Gonzaga. Before the end of the quarter Adriano Dos Santos was able to apply defensive pressure leading to a steal and an easy assist to Roque for his 9th goal of the year. At the end of the first the Blast led 6-0.
At the 1:39 mark in the second Max Ferdinand scored a 3-point goal to extend the Blast lead. Adriano Dos Santos contributed a goal off an assist from Pat Healey at the 10:29 mark to put the Blast up 11-0. The Blast defense held the Wave to only 5 shots in the first half, Mike Deasel recorded and block and goalkeeper William Vanzela recorded 4 saves.
The second half began with the Luan Sales Oliveira getting the Wave on the board off an assist from Marcio Leite. This was the only goal in the quarter and the game entered the final quarter with the Blast leading the Wave 11-2.
The Wave came out aggressive to begin the 4th quarter. At the 3:08 mark JC Banks scored off an assist from Marcio Leite and 34 seconds later Bato Randoncic also score to bring the Wave within 5. With just over 4 minutes to play the Wave brought on an extra attacker and converted when Marcio Leite scored bringing with Wave within 3. The Blast were able to answer late in the quarter when Onua Obasi scored off an assist from Tony Donatelli with 1:50 left to play to seal the Blast victory. At the final buzzer the Blast defeated the Wave 13-8.
The Blast move to 5-0 on the season. Lucas Roque led the offense with 2 goals and Tony Donatelli recorded 2 assists. William Vanzela recorded 13 saves in goal while two time MASL Team of the Week selection Pat Healey was also a key contributor in the win recording a goal, an assist, and 3 blocks.
The Blast and Wave will battle it out again tomorrow night at the Royal Farms Arena. Kickoff is at 7:35p.m.
