Blast Defeat Heat 24-13

BLAST DEFEAT HEAT 24-13

The Blast traveled to Harrisburg on Friday night to take on the Heat for the final time this season. In a game high scoring game, Baltimore was able to defeat Harrisburg 24-13.

The game got off to a fast start with 5 goals in the first quarter. The Heat got in the board first when Patrick Thompson scored just 49 seconds into the game and then Val Texiera scored as well putting the heat up 4-0. Vini Dantas recorded the first Blast goal of the evening at the 7:47 mark off an assist from Max Ferdinand. Keith Fultz answered for the Heat at the 8:45 mark and then Chris Hall hit a 3 point goal to extend the Heat lead to 7. At the end of the first the Blast trailed 9-2.

 

In the second quarter Vini Dantas took over and recorded 3 goals for the Blast. Max Ferdinand recorded 2 more assists and Tony Donatelli assisted Dantas’ fourth goal of the night. At the half the Blast had cut the Heat lead to 9-8.

 

In the second half the Blast came out looking to take their first lead of the game. After a quick Harrisburg goal by Patrick Thompson the Blast offense recorded four consecutive goals. Drew Ruggles nailed a three point goal at the 8:31 mark to tie the game at 11. Jonathan Melo gave the Blast the lead off an assist from Adauto Neto at the 10:49 mark. Drew Ruggles found the back of the net again and then Juan Pereira scored at the 13:20 mark off an assist from Mike Deasel. The Blast went into the final quarter leading 18-11.

 

The offense continued to roll in the fourth quarter. Tony Donatelli who leads the Blast in points scored a goal at the 1:52 mark off an assist from Onua Obasi and then Lucas Roque recorded his team leading 20th goal off an assist from Max Ferdinand pushing the Blast lead to 11. After a goal by the Heat, Jonathan Melo answered for the Blast to seal the victory. The final score was 24-13.

 

The Blast move to 17-2 on the season. The Blast were led offensively by Vini Dantas who recorded 4 goals on the night. Jonathan Melo and Drew Ruggles also contributed two goals each on the night. Blast goalkeeper Phil Saunders recorded 8 saves and moves to 3-0 on the season.

 

The Blast will head to Rochester on Sunday for their regular season finale against the Lancers. Game time is at 4:00 p.m. from the Blue Cross Arena.
