Blast Announce Re-signing of Donatelli and Dos Santos
Veterans join six others under contract
Baltimore, MD- Baltimore Blast President and General Manager, Kevin Healey, announced today that the team has re-signed midfielder Tony Donatelli and defender Adriano Dos Santos. Both players were key members of the 2016 championship team.
Tony Donatelli is entering his fifth season with the Blast and his seventh year of professional indoor soccer. Last season he finished 19th in the league in points with 17 goals and 17 assists. Donatelli also had a great playoff performance with 4 goals and 7 assists during the Blast’s road to the championship including the dramatic overtime goal to win the championship in Sonora. Donatelli enters the season with 64 goals, 47 assists, and 147 points in his five year Blast career.
Adriano Dos Santos will take over as the longest tenured defender for the Blast with the earlier announced retirement of Pat Healey. Dos Santos signed prior to the 09-10 season with the Blast and has been a key part of some of the most dominant defenses in indoor soccer. He has contributed 46 goals, 32 assists, and 50 blocks throughout his career. Appearing in every game last season, Dos Santos recorded 10 goals and 7 assists while recording 17 blocks.
Blast head coach, Danny Kelly, said Tony and Adriano have been two of the best players in the league at their respective positions over the last few years. Their versatility, leadership, and ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball played a huge role in helping us win the championship last season. The influence they have both on the field and in the locker room will be critical to our success this season
