BLAST FILL ROSTER SPOT WITH DEFENDER
Team Will Play Saturday in Milwaukee and return to Baltimore on the 30th

Baltimore Blast President and General Manager Kevin Healey announced that the team has signed defender Zach Wilkes for the remainder of the 2009-10 season.  The Blast, 5-4, is tied with the Rockford Rampage for first place in the MISL and will play in Milwaukee Saturday night.

Wilkes, who spent the last two seasons with the Detroit Ignition, was a member of the 2009 XSL Championship Ignition squad.   The 6-0, 185-pound defender scored the first goal of his indoor career against the Blast on April 5, 2008.  He played collegiate soccer at Madonna University from 2001 to 2004 and received honorable mention from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) in 2004.  He was also named to the NAIA Region VIII All-Region Team and WHAC First-Team All-Conference in 2004.  Wilkes, (26) still ranks in the top 10 on Madonna’s all-time games played, games started and minutes played lists.

“We’re happy to be able to add Zach to our roster,” said Healey.  “His addition gives us another quality defender.”

The Blast, 5-4 on the season and tied for first place, will travel to Milwaukee on Saturday before returning to 1st Mariner Arena to host the Wave on the 30th.  The Blast has previously lost to the Wave twice this season, 12-10 on December 31 in Milwaukee and 11-9 in Baltimore on January 9.

Blast season tickets and five-game mini plans are on sale now through the Blast office.  Single-game tickets are also on sale now and are available at the 1st Mariner Arena Box Office and at all TicketMaster outlets including TicketMaster phonecharge at 410-547-SEAT.  Tickets can also be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com.  Tickets cost $30, $22, $19 and $16.  For additional information on Blast tickets, call the Blast at 410-73-BLAST.
