La RaZa Earns 25-10 Victory over the Blast

In a game of defensive errors, missed opportunities and red cards, the first-place Monterrey La RaZa defeated the Baltimore Blast, 25-10, Sunday afternoon at Monterrey Arena.  Shaun David led La RaZa with four goals while Robbie Aristodemo led the Blast with two goals; Angel Hernandez and Sagu were ejected from the match in the fourth quarter.  The Blast (5-7) and La RaZa (9-5) will see each other again, this Friday night at 7:35 p.m. at 1st Mariner Arena.

Martinez gave La RaZa an early 3-0 lead with a three-point power-play goal at 4:20 of the first quarter but the Blast fought back and cut the lead to 3-2 when Denison Cabral scored a power-play goal at 7:27.  Just 17 seconds later, Martinez scored another three-point goal and Armando Teran added a goal at 13:26 to give La RaZa an 8-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The second half was more of the same for La RaZa with Mark Ughy scoring early to extend the lead to 10-2.  David scored his first goal at 4:39 and Martinez completed his hat trick at 11:27 to make it 14-2.  David's second goal of the game came in the 14th minute and gave La RaZa a 16-2 lead at halftime.

The Blast scored three goals in the third quarter but also allowed two, thus were unable to battle back from the halftime deficit.  Machel Millwood scored the first goal of the half but former Blast player Carlos Farias answered shortly thereafter to make it 18-4.  Aristodemo scored the next two Blast goals but David scored a short-handed goal late in the quarter to maintain Monterrey's dominance and put an end to the Blast's short-lived rally.

Yotsi Martinez Olvera scored early in the fourth quarter and Sagu and Hernandez were ejected from the game for their part in a post-goal altercation.  Blast forward Carlos Garcia took over in goal until defender Mike Lookingland came on as the sixth attacker.  David scored his fourth goal of the game, a three-pointer against Lookingland, to increase La RaZa's lead to 25-8 but Lucio Gonzaga scored the last goal of the game, making it 25-10.

Tickets to Friday night's rematch, and all other Blast home games are available by calling 410-73-BLAST or at www.TicketMaster.com.  Friday is mini soccer ball night at 1st Mariner Arena - the first 2,000 kids 14 and under will receive a free mini soccer ball.
