BLAST CLINCHES SECOND PLACE IN THE REGULAR SEASON
Team Will Finish the Season in Philadelphia Sunday and Face Monterrey in the Semis
The Baltimore Blast have secured second place in the MISL regular season standings and will play a home-and-home Semifinal series against the Monterrey La RaZa on March 26th and 29th. The Milwaukee Wave clinched the MISL regular season title on Sunday with a 17-12 victory over Monterrey and the La RaZa secured third place this afternoon when the Wave beat the Philadelphia KiXX. The Wave will host the Semifinal winner in the 2010 MISL Championship Game on Sunday, April 4.
The Semifinals will pit the Baltimore Blast against the Monterrey La RaZa; the Rockford Rampage and Philadelphia KiXX have been eliminated from playoff contention. La RaZa will host Game One of the Semifinals on Friday the 26th and the teams will return to Baltimore for Game Two on Monday, March 29th at 7:35 p.m. at 1st Mariner Arena. If the series is tied at the completion of the second game, the teams will play a golden-goal mini game to determine the winner.
The Blast have won the league championship in five of the last seven seasons and have played Monterrey just once in the postseason, earning a 14-11 victory to win the 2008 MISL Championship. The Blast and Wave have met 12 times in the playoffs with the Blast holding a 9-3 record and two championship wins over Milwaukee.
The Blast, 11-8, will play their last game of the regular season on Sunday against the Philadelphia KiXX at Liacouras Center.
