Blast Remains Perfect after 22-6 Win Over the Comets

Pat Healey scored four goals and the Blast improved to 5-0 after a 22-6 victory over the Comets Wednesday night at the Independence Events Center.  The Blast will finish 2010 with a Friday-afternoon game against the Vipers in Omaha.

The Comets struck first, just three minutes into the game, when Byron Alvarez knocked in a power-play goal to give Missouri an early 2-0 lead.  Healey tied the game at 2-2 at the 5:17 mark and the Blast dominated the remaining 54:43 as six different players scored goals and Sagu stopped 23 of the 26 shots he faced.

Max Ferdinand, Robbie Aristodemo and Machel Millwood scored after Healey in the first quarter, putting the Blast on top, 8-2, and giving Baltimore four goals in a span of six minutes and five seconds.  The Comets's Jamar Beasley scored late in the quarter to cut Baltimore's lead to 8-4.

It was more of the same for Baltiore in the second quarter, as Millwood and Healey scored their second goals of the night and Lucio Gonzaga added a goal to give the Blast a 14-4 halftime lead.

The Blast held the Comets scoreless throughout the third quarter and Healey completed his hat trick late in the quarter, for a 16-4 lead after 45 minutes of play.

Worteh Sampson, who recorded two assists in the first quarter, made it 18-4 just eight seconds into the final quarter and Healey and Mike Lookingland recorded short-handed goals in the fourth quarter to seal Baltimore's fifth win of the season, 22-6 over the 1-6 Comets.
