Blast Remain Unbeaten with 15-8 Win

Blast Improves to 6-0; Will Face Unbeaten Comets Saturday Night

In the first of a two-game Thanksgiving weekend road trip, the Blast defeated the Wichita Wings, 15-8, to improve to 6-0.  Leading scorer Machel Millwood led the way with two goals and one assist while Max Ferdinand recorded one goal and three assists.

The Blast struck first, when Pat Healey knocked in a goal in third minute of the game but the Wings tied it at 2-2 late in the quarter on a Freddy Moojen power-play goal.

The Blast controlled the second quarter, as Max Ferdinand, Millwood and Adauto Neto each scored to give Baltimore an 8-2 lead.

Despite a one-goal third quarter, the teams combined for five goals in the final quarter, including a Wings goal from Bryan Perez that cut the Blast lead to 8-6.  Team captain Mike Lookingland sealed the victory with a three-point goal late in the fourth quarter and Tony Donatelli knocked in the last goal of the match.

The Blast will continue this three-game road trip Saturday night against the undefeated Missouri Comets.

By the Numbers:
Baltimore Blast: 6-0
Missouri Comets: 4-0

The Blast has kicked off their 33rd season of professional indoor soccer in Baltimore with six straight wins, marking the seventh time since the 1992-93 season the team has started with five wins.

There’s no Place Like Home

The Blast, 9-3 at home last season, started 2012-13 with four home games in the span of just 13 days.  The team has boasted winning records at home each of the last six seasons and has had winning home records in 18 of the last 20 seasons.  The Blast will return to 1st Mariner Arena on December 7 looking to extend its 13-game regular-season home win streak.

The Competition
The Comets opened the season with four straight wins, including two over Wichita and one each against Milwaukee and Syracuse.  Missouri is led by veteran and MISL leading scorer Byron Alvarez who has 20 points on the season.  Vahid Assadpour follows with 12 points and John Sosa has 10.  Veteran Danny Waltman has played every minute in goal.
