The Blast, who were the 2012-13 MISL Champions, is anchored by 15 returners from last year’s squad including Captain and 2012 MISL Defender of the Year, Mike Lookingland, 2012-13 2nd Team All-MISL, Pat Healey, and 2012-13 Play-Off MVP, Goalie, William Vanzela.

11/23 Home Opener Recap:

Despite getting off 36 shots and only allowing 3 goals in the previous matchup against the Wave the Blast were not able to find the back of the net. Milwaukee Wave goalkeeper Nick Vorberg was honored as MISL player of the week after his shutout performance. Lucio Gonzaga (7 shot attempts) and Tony Donatelli (6 shot attempts) led the Blast attack and look to put some goals on the board in this week’s matchup.

Battle of Champions:

Both the Blast and Wave have won their fair share of championships. The Blast has won 7 total and 6 have been in the past 11 years. The Wave has won 6 total and all have been in the last 16 years. On Saturday, the Blast will be looking to hand the Milwaukee Wave their first loss of the 2013 season.  Milwaukee will be playing to remain among the MISL leaders in wins.

Settling In:

The Baltimore Blast has only two games under their belt this season and look to continue to build. Newcomer Freddy Moojen has contributed 2 points and had 2 shots in the last matchup. Along with Moojen, the Blast offense has been led by Marco Mangione who leads the team with 7 points and 3 goals while last year’s MISL defender of the year Mike Lookingland had 4 blocked shots in the previous game against the Wave.

The Competition:

Both teams are going into the match on Saturday from a week off from games. Goal Keeper, Nick Vorberg received the MISL player of the week (11/25) for shutting out the Blast on their Home Opener and allowing only 2 goals against the Pennsylvania Roar in the team’s last game. The Wave offense has been led by Ian Bennett (16 points) and Nicolas Perera (10 points) who were both held scoreless in the previous matchup against the Blast. This Saturday will also be Milwaukee’s Home Opener.
