By the Numbers:

Baltimore Blast: 5-2 after Tuesday’s win against the Roar

Missouri Comets: 5-2 after Wednesday’s win against Rochester  

Max Ferdinand is currently 7th in the league in total points with 22 and leads the Blast in goals with 9.  Lucas Roque, Marco Mangione and Tony Donatelli are also all in the top 25 in points this year.  Roque is tied for 14th with Lancer’s Pedrinho while Mangione and Donatelli are tied for 22nd with 13 points. Mike Lookingland is tied for 6th in the league with 11 blocks while Pat Healey is tied for 8th in the league with 10 blocks.  William Vanzella leads the league with a 5.28 points against average in the goal.

 

12/31 Roar Game Recap:

The Baltimore Blast traveled back to Reading PA on New Years Eve to play the Roar for the third time this season.  Shutting out the Roar for the second time in a row, the Blast put together a 24-0 win. Goalie Troy Hernandez recorded his first shutout of the season while Lucio Gonzaga, Levi Houapeu, and Diego Zuniga all scored two goals each.

 

Battle for the top:

Both the Blast and the Comets come into the game tied for second place and an identical 5-2 record. The Comets have scored at least 15 points in every game this season while the Blast look to maintain their strong defensive play. The Blast have a league leading 4 game winning streak. Both teams are 1 game back of Milwaukee for first place in the MISL.

 

The Competition:

The Missouri Comets come into 2014 with a 5-2 record and 3 consecutive road wins. After losing the opener the Comets have won 5 of their past 6 games and have been led with strong offensive play. The Comets have 8 players who have recorded 10 or more points so far this season.  They are led offensively by Vahid Assadpour who is tied for first in the league with 40 points and Leo Gibson who is ranked 3rd in the league with 35 points. The Comets are coached by Vlatko Andonovski and Goran Karadzov.
