Hewerton Moreira, Philadelphia KiXX
The native of Santos, Brazil registered a season-high in points and goals to lead Philadelphia past Monterrey, 16-8, on January 25. Moreira opened the game’s scoring with a two-point goal just over one minute into the first quarter and added four more two-point scores to finish the contest with 10 points. With the offensive outburst, the 29-year-old forward is now ranked first among all NISL scorers with 41 points on the season. Moreira was named the League’s first Player of the Week for the seven-day period ending November 16 and is the NISL’s first two-time winner.
About the National Indoor Soccer League
The National Indoor Soccer League was launched in September of 2008 and consists of five founding members; the Baltimore Blast, La RaZa de Monterrey, Philadelphia KiXX, Rockford Rampage and the Massachusetts Twisters. The NISL has a working relationship with the United Soccer Leagues (USL) recently received provisional membership in the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).
The NISL kicked off its inaugural season on November 15th and will continue through March with the playoffs taking place the first two weeks of April.
