Blast Defeat Silver Knights 11-4

BLAST DEFEAT SILVER KNIGHTS 11-4

The Blast traveled to Syracuse on Saturday night to take on the Silver Knights for the second time this season. In a game where defense and goalkeeper play dominated, the Blast defeated the Silver Knights 11-4.

The game began with both teams showing solid defense and limiting scoring opportunities. Syracuse was able to score the first goal of the game at the 8:44 mark off a goal by Anthony Grant. The Blast answered right before the quarter ended as Tony Donatelli scored off a restart with just 3 seconds left in the 1st. Pat Healey assisted the Donatelli goal while goalkeeper William Vanzela recorded 5 saves, the quarter ended 2-2.

 Only 17 seconds into the second quarter Adauto Neto scored for the Blast off an assist from Juan Pereira. This would be the only goal recorded in the 2nd and at the half the Blast led 4-2.

 The second half began with the Silver Knights’ Elmo Neto finding the back of the net to tie the game at 4.  At the 11:25 mark the Blast were able to regain the lead, Lucas Roque gained possession off a pass from Pat Healey and Roque got off a rocket shot that found the corner of the net. The game entered the final quarter with the Blast leading the Silver Knights 6-4.

The Blast defense was able to hold off the Syracuse attack in the 4th quarter. Goalkeeper William Vanzela ended the game with strong play in net while the defense in front of him held Syracuse scoreless for the entire quarter including time defending the 6th attacker. Tony Donatelli and Onua Obasi were both able to record empty net goals in the final moments of the game. The final score ended with the Blast defeating the Silver Knights 11-4.

The Blast move to 4-0 on the season. William Vanzela recorded 13 saves in goal on the night and the Blast defense recorded 7 blocked shots including 2 from both Mike Deasel and Onua Obasi. Tony Donatelli led the offense with 2 goals while Lucas Roque scored his 7th goal of the season that turned out to be the game winner and Pat Healey recorded 2 assists.

The Blast will return home next weekend for back-to-back games against the Milwaukee Wave on Friday (12/12) and Saturday (12/13). Both games kickoff 7:35p.m from the Royal Farms Arena.
