Jamar Beasley, Rockford Rampage
The native of Ft. Wayne, Indiana led the Rampage with a hat trick in Rockford’s 24-20 win over the Monterrey La RaZa on Sunday. In addition to his three goals (two of which were short-handed goals), he added an assist for seven points in the match. Beasley, a six-year veteran of professional indoor soccer, ranks sixth on the Rampage with 22 points on the season (nine goals and four assists) and was also named NISL Player of the Week on March 9th. With just one regular season game remaining, the Rampage are 9-8 and battling with the Philadelphia KiXX and Monterrey La RaZa for the remaining two playoff spots.
About the National Indoor Soccer League
The National Indoor Soccer League was launched in September of 2008 and consists of five founding members; the Baltimore Blast, La RaZa de Monterrey, Philadelphia KiXX, Rockford Rampage and the Massachusetts Twisters. The NISL has formed a working relationship with the United Soccer Leagues (USL) and recently received provisional membership in the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).
The NISL kicked off its inaugural season on November 15th and will continue through March with the playoffs taking place the first two weeks of April. The 2009 NISL Championship Series will consist of three of the five NISL clubs competing in two rounds, the Semifinal Round (first weekend of April) and the Championship Series Final (April 11). The Baltimore Blast claimed the regular season title and earned an automatic bye to host the Championship Game at 1st Mariner Arena on Saturday, April 11. The second- and third-place teams will play a home-and-home series during the first week of April with the winner advancing to the Finals against the Blast. Heading into the final weekend of the 2008-09 NISL regular season, the Monterrey La RaZa, Philadelphia KiXX and Rockford Rampage are still battling for the remaining two postseason spots.
