Blast Defeat Harrisburg 12-5

The Blast remain undefeated at home this season after defeating the Heat 12-5. In front of a crowd of 3,554, Adriano Dos Santos recorded two goals and two assists for the Blast. Ricardo Carvalho had two goals for Harrisburg.


The Blast got off to a quick start, scoring twice within the first 5 minutes of the game. Goals by Adriano Dos Santos and Juan Pereira gave the Blast an early 2-0 lead. Harrisburg would answer with two straight goals of their own. Ricardo Carvalho and Thiago Freitas scored to tie the game at 2-2. Pat Healey, Adriano Dos Santos, and Nelson Santana then scored for the Blast to go up 5-2. Elmo Neto got a goal for Harrisburg with under a minute left in the half to make the game 5-3 at halftime.

Harrisburg started the second half strong, with two goals in the first 3 minutes of the 3rd quarter. Goals by David Mellor and Ricardo Carvalho tied the game at 5-5. The Blast answered with 6 straight goals in the quarter. Vini Dantas scored two power play goals, and goals by Tony Donatelli (PP), Jereme Raley, Juan Pereira, and Andrew Hoxie gave the Blast an 11-5 lead after 3 quarters. Jon Orlando would score the only goal of the 4th quarter for a final score of 12-5.


This is the Blast’s sixth straight win overall, and eighth straight win at home. The Blast went 4-4 on the power play, while Harrisburg was 0-1 with the man advantage. Juan Pereira and Vini Dantas each had two goals and one assist for the Blast, and Tony Donatelli had a goal and two assists. Blast goalkeeper Joey Kapinos recorded 12 saves in his team debut. Thiago Freitas and David Mellor had a goal and an assist each for Harrisburg.


The Blast are back in action next Friday, January 26th when they travel to Harrisburg to take on the Heat at 7:35 p.m. EST. The game can be streamed on or on the MASL app.
