Blast Defeat Florida 7-6

Led by 2 goals each from Lucas Roque and Tony Donatelli


The Blast held off a late Florida rally to defeat the Tropics 7-6 for their fourth straight win. In front of a crowd of 1,741, Lucas Roque and Tony Donatelli each scored 2 goals for the Blast. Freddy Moojen scored 2 goals for the Tropics.


It was a back-and-forth first half between the teams. Jamie Thomas opened the scoring to give the Blast a 1-0 lead midway through the first quarter. Florida then scored the first of three goals in 30 seconds between the two teams. Ricardo Diegues scored two goals for the Tropics, with a Blast goal by Tony Donatelli sandwiched in between. Lucas Roque would then score two straight goals in the second quarter to give the Blast a 4-2 halftime lead.


The Blast got off to a quick start in the second half, scoring 13 seconds into the 3rd quarter on a goal by Adriano Dos Santos. The teams would then trade goals early in the fourth quarter. Andrew Hoxie and Tony Donatelli scored for the Blast, with a Tropics goal by Lucas Teixeira in between. Florida would then score three straight goals late in the quarter to bring the game within 1. The Blast killed off a late penalty to hold on for a 7-6 win.


Adriano Dos Santos recorded two points on the night, one goal and one assist. Blast goalie William Vanzela also recorded an assist. The Blast went 1-2 on the power play and 2-2 on the penalty kill. Dos Santos’ goal was a shorthanded goal. Florida’s Lucas Coutinho had two assists in the game and Tropics goalkeeper Piotr Sliwa recorded 11 saves.


The Blast next play tomorrow, Saturday, January 16th at 7:05 p.m. in Harrisburg against the Heat. The game can be streamed online at or on the MASL app.
