Blast Get Revenge on Knights with 18-10 Win

11/27/2011 8:19 AM -

The Blast improved to 4-1 after Sunday's 18-10 win over the Syracuse Silver Knights.  The win was payback for the opening-night loss to the Knights.  Since that loss, the Blast has gone 4-0 with all four wins coming on the road.  Six players scored for the Blast on Sunday including Matt Watson and rookie J.T. Noone who each recorded two goals.

In a back-and-forth first quarter, the Blast stuck first, on a three-point Machel Millwood power-play goal for an early 3-0 lead.  Alex Megson and former Blast player Ryan Pierce scored the next two goals to give the Silver Knights a 4-3 lead but Noone  scored his third goal of the season to put the Blast back on top, 5-4 at the end of the first quarter of play.  Noone scored in last night's 26-9 win over the Rochester Lancers as well.

The second quarter was more of the same - goals and penalties.  The Blast added three goals, the first from Watson, a short-handed three-pointer from Mike Lookingland and another from Noone.  The Silver Knights scored two goals and the teams combined for  eight penalty minutes, six of which were on the Blast.

Max Ferdinand scored the lone goal of the third quarter to put the Blast on top, 14-8, and Carlos Garcia was the only player sent to the penalty box.  With two two-minute penalties in the game, Garcia has moved into the top five on Baltimore's all-time penalty minutes list.

Watson struck again in the fourth quarter, as did Syracuse's Diego Serna, but the Silver Knights could not overcome to the 16-10 deficit.  Pat Healey scored the last goal of the game, a power-play goal, to seal the 18-10 win and move the Blast 1.5 games ahead of Syracuse in the Eastern Division standings.
