The KiXX Win, 8-6, in Overtime

03/13/2010 12:18 PM -
Semir Mesanovic scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead the Philadelphia KiXX to an 8-6 win over the Blast Saturday night at 1st Mariner Arena.  The Blast have clinched second place in the MISL but the loss snaps the team's six-game winning streak.  The Blast is now 4-1 against the KiXX and will finish the season next Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia.

Defender Mike Lookingland scored late in the first quarter to give the Blast a 2-0 lead that held up until Machel Millwood scored late in the third quarter to extend Baltimore's lead to 4-0.

The KiXX took over in the fourth quarter, with goals from Semir Mesanovic and Adauto Neto to tie the game at 4-4 before Pat Healey scored to reclaim the Blast lead, 6-4.  With Pat Morris on the field as the sixth attacker, Don D'Ambra scored a power-play goal to tie the game at 6-6 and force overtime.

At the 5:34 mark of the overtime period, the KiXX were awarded a free kick at the top of the arc and Ricardinho found Mesanovic for the game-winner.

The Blast, 11-8 is now one game behind the first-place Milwaukee Wave in the battle for the regular season championship and home field advantage in the 2010 MISL Championship Game.

The KiXX hold a 45-43 advantage over the Blast all-time since the teams started playing each other in 1996-97.
