The Blast Are Going Back to the Championship!

03/12/2012 9:49 AM -

The Blast swept the Rochester Lancers in the Eastern Division Finals to advance to the MISL Championship Series against the Milwaukee Wave.  Max Ferdinand, Machel Millwood and Pat Healey each scored two goals Monday night to lead Baltimore to a 14-8 Game Two win in Rochester.

Ferdinand, who led the Blast to victory in Game One, wasted no time Monday night, scoring just 36 seconds into the game to give the Blast a 2-0 lead.  Machel Millwood scored next, at 6:38, to extend Baltimore's lead to 4-2 before Andrew Hoxie got the Lancers on the scoreboard and cut the Blast lead to 4-2 to end the first quarter.

After a scoreless second quarter, the action picked up in the second half as the teams combined for five goals and Carlos Garcia picked up his second blue card of the night.  Ferdinand opened the second-half scoring with a goal after just 25 seconds and Healey scored his first goal to give the Blast an 8-2 lead.  Jeremy Ortiz and Doug Miller led a Lancers rally, knocking in two Rochester goals to cut the Blast lead to 8-6 before Healey ended the quarter with his second goal of the game to make it 10-6.

Millwood's second goal came late in the final quarter, followed by a goal from Adriano Dos Santos (one goal, three assists) to make it 14-6 before Rochester veteran John Ball scored the last goal of the game to seal Baltimore's 14-8 victory.

The Blast played the Eastern Division Finals without the injured Adauto Neto, Stephen DeRoux and Scott Buete.
