Following back-to-back wins on the road last weekend, Blast goalkeeper Sagu has been named MISL Player of the Week. The Blast are 2-1 on the season and will play in Rochester and Syracuse this weekend.
Sagu, who is playing in his eighth season with the Blast, allowed just 14 points over the weekend and ranks third in the MISL with an 8.74 points against average. On Friday, in Baltimore's 10-8 OT win over the Comets, Sagu stopped 19 of the 23 shots he faced and on Saturday, in the team's 12-6 win over the Wings, he made 13 saves on 16 shots faced (he stopped 32 of 39 shots over the weekend).
The 38-year old keeper has a .729 save percentage and and 4.21 goals against average.
Sagu, the 2011 MISL Goalkeeper of the Year, has won three championships with the Blast. Sagu also won Goalkeeper of the Year honors after the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons, as well in 2000 and 2001 when he played in the WISL. He is also a six-time All-League selection.
