Blast to Host Eastern Division Final March 10

Baltimore will Play Syracuse or Rochester in the Eastern Division Finals

The Major Indoor Soccer League announced the provisional schedule for the MISL Eastern Division Finals that will have the Baltimore Blast hosting the opening game of the series at 1st Mariner Arena on March 10.  The Blast, 15-6 on the season, have already clinched the 2012 Eastern Division regular season title and are waiting for either the Rochester Lancers or Syracuse Silver Knights to earn the second postseason berth.  Game Two of the series will be held on Monday, March 12, regardless of the opponent.

As of February 23:
Rochester, 9-13, currently hold a one-game lead over Syracuse (8-14) in the Eastern Division standings, as well as the tiebreaker should the teams finish the regular season with the same record.  The Silver Knights, who have two regular-season games remaining, lost to the Milwaukee Wave Wednesday night and will host the Wichita Wings on Saturday; the Lancers will end the regular season with home games against the Wings tonight and Sunday.  If the Lancers beat the Wings tonight, they will play the Blast in the Eastern Division Finals.

If the Lancers reach the playoffs, Game Two will kickoff at 7:05 at the Blue Cross Arena; if the Silver Knights advance, game time will be 7 p.m. at the Oncenter War Memorial.

The Blast will travel to Norfolk this weekend for a Sunday afternoon match against the SharX before returning to Baltimore for the last home game of the regular season on March 2 against the Wichita Wings.  Baltimore will end the regular season in Syracuse on March 4 in a possible preview of the Eastern Division Finals.

The Eastern Division Finals will consist of a home-and-home series between the top two teams in the Eastern Division.  If the series is tied after the two games, there will be a 15-minute mini game immediately following the second game.  The teams will play the full 15 minutes and if the game is tied at the conclusion, a 15-minute sudden-death period will be played.  The teams will continue to play 15-minute sudden-death matches until a winner is determined.  The Eastern Division Champion will advance to play the winner of the Central Division Finals between the Milwaukee Wave and the Missouri Comets.
