Blast Shutout Detroit 26-0

BLAST SHUTOUT WAZA FLO 26-0

The Blast played host to the Detroit Waza Flo on Friday night for the first time this season. The Blast defense was able to hold Detroit to only 13 shots and Pat Healey recorded 4 blocks while Lucas Roque led the offense with a four-goal night. In the end the Blast defeated the Waza Flo 26-0.

The Blast came out sharp offensively and defensively scoring 3 goals in the first and holding Detroit to only 1 shot. Baltimore’s first goal of the game came from Levi Houapeau and was assisted by Lucio Gonzaga. At the 4:20 mark Adauto Neto scored off an assist from Mike Deasel and 11 seconds later Tony Donatelli found the back of the net off a pass from Max Ferdinand putting the blast up 6-0.

 Only 1:16 into the second the Blast converted on a power play opportunity when Lucas Roque found the back of the net. At 4:47 it was Roque again who was able to score off a nice set up by Lucio Gonzaga.  At the 7:36 mark Adauto Neto got the ball in the corner and was able to drive towards the goal setting up Adriano Dos Santos for an easy Blast goal. Newcomer Jonatas Melo scored his first Blast goal with 1:37 remaining assisted by Levi Houapeu. With only 38 seconds left in the 2nd Lucas Roque completed the hat trick with his third goal of the quarter. Before the half the Blast were able to record 25 shots while holding Detroit to only 3. Pat Healey and Lucas Roque both recorded blocks to compliment the offense. The halftime score was 16-0.

 The second half got underway with a Lucio Gonzaga goal and Levi Houapeu recorded his second assist of the game. Adriano Dos Santos followed with his second goal of the game while Adauto Neto recorded his second assist of the game on the goal as well. At 12:18 Mike Deasel contributed a goal and Levi Houpeau recorded his 3rd assist of the game. With one minute to play in the 3rd Kaoru Forbess also found the back of the net and moments later Lucas Roque recorded his 4th goal of the game extending the Blast lead to 26.

In the final quarter the Blast were able to control possession and continue their solid defensive play. No goals were recorded in the quarter and the final score was Baltimore 26 Detroit 0.

The Blast move to 2-0 on the season. Lucas Roque and his 4-goal performance led the offense, which had many contributors on the night. Defensively, William Vanzela recorded the shutout and had 7 saves while Pat Healey anchored the defense and had 4 blocked shots.

The Blast look forward to hosting the Harrisburg Heat on November 21st. The game will be played at the Royal Farms Arena, kickoff at 7:35pm.
