BLAST DEFEAT HEAT 27-0
The Blast played host to the Harrisburg Heat on Friday night for the first time this season. In a game where offense, defense, and goalkeeping all preformed exceptionally, the Blast defeated the Heat 27-0.
The Blast got out to a fast start scoring 4 goals in the first and holding Harrisburg to only 2 shots. Baltimore’s first points of the game came off a Diego Zuniga 3-point goal. At the 8:48 mark Levi Houapeu scored off an assist from Tony Donatelli. Jerjer Gisbon and Jonatas Melo found a rhythm late in the quarter, Gibson was able to score his first and second goals of the season both assisted by Melo. At the end of the first the Blast led 9-0.
Lucas Roque scored the only goal of the second quarter but he sure made it count. After Onaua Obasi put a ball high off the boards Roque was able to complete an outstanding bicycle kick goal. The halftime score was 11-0.
The second half got underway with Onua Obasi scoring a goal at 6:31. Only 13 seconds later Diego Zuniga scored for the Blast as well extending the lead to 15. Zuniga was then able to record another goal and complete the hat trick off an assist from Max Ferdinand. At 12:16 in the 3rd Juan Pereira contributed a goal off another Ferdinand assist. The game entered the final quarter with the Blast leading the Heat 19-0.
The 4th quarter began with a Jonatas Melo goal assisted by Tony Donatelli. Jonatas Melo scored again at 4:55 off an assist from Onua Obasi. At 5:56 Lucas Roque recorded his second goal of the game and Onua Obasi recorded his 3rd assist. Tony Donatelli added a goal at the 6:49 and Levi Houpeau got the assist. The final score was 27-0.
The Blast move to 3-0 on the season. Diego Zuniga recorded a hat trick while Onua Obasi recorded a goal and 3 assists to lead the offense. Pat Healey contributed 3 blocked shots while leading the Blast defense that only allowed 9 shots. With another outstanding performance in goal William Vanzela recorded 3 saves and his second shutout of the season. Vanzela has not allowed a goal in 10 consecutive quarters dating back to the season opener.
The Blast will hit the road for the first time this year as they travel to Syracuse next weekend on November 29th for a 7:00 game against the Silver Knights.
