Blast Re-Sign Five Players

Defender of the Year and Leading Scorers Signed

Baltimore, MD- Baltimore Blast President and General Manager, Kevin Healey, announced today the signings of Tony Donatelli, Pat Healey, Lucas Roque, Adriano Dos Santos and Jamie Darvill. This group includes the top three point producers last year for the Blast in Tony Donatelli, Lucas Roque, and Pat Healey. Healey was also the league Defender of the Year.

Tony Donatelli enters his sixth season with the Blast coming off a year in which he led the team with 36 points. He was second on the team in goals with 17 and second on the team in assists with 19. Donatelli also led the team in game winning goals with 3.

Blast captain Pat Healey returns for his eighth season with the Blast. Last year Healey was honored as the MASL Defender of the Year and was a First Team All MASL selection. Healey led the league in blocked shots with 53. The defender also led the team in assists with 22 and was third on the team in points with 30.

Lucas Roque is returning for his fourth season with the Blast. Roque led the team last season with 25 goals. He was second in assists with 19, lead the team in shots with 79, and lead the team in power play goals with 5.

Adriano Dos Santos successfully made the transition to defender last year and returns for his sixth Blast season. Dos Santos scored 11 goals and recorded 6 assists while blocking 10 shots.

Jamie Darvill enters his fourth season with the Blast. With reduced playing time due to injuries Darvill was able to score 4 goals and record 1 assist in 7 games played.

These returning players will join the group of previously signed individuals including William Vanzela, Onua Obasi, Vini Dantas, Jonathan Melo, Juan Pereira, and Edwin Cubillo. This group is headlined by Blast goalkeeper William Vanzela. Vanzela was named MASL Goalkeeper of the Year last season and earned 1st Team All MASL honors. Newcomers Obasi, Dantas, Melo, and Pereira combined for 70 points and 43 goals. Dantas and Obasi were both named to the 2014-15 MASL All Rookie Team. Now with a year of indoor experience all 4 players hope to make an impact again this season. Cubillo was a late signing last season from Costa Rica and injuries kept his out of games last year.

Head Coach Danny Kelly said “I think a major reason we've been able to win games and compete for championships has been the ability to keep our core group intact.  Being able to bring these key players back keeps that continuity that we're looking for, and with some new additions will hopefully result in the team competing for a championship again in the upcoming 2015-16 season.”
