BLAST DEFEAT WAZA FLO 11-1
The Blast hosted the Waza Flo in a MASL Eastern Division matchup on Saturday night. The Blast were able to defeat the Waza Flo 11-1 behind a strong team performance.
The Blast controlled possession during the opening quarter. Lucas Roque kicked off the scoring 4 minutes into the game with his 4th goal of the season off an assist from Onua Obasi. The Blast defense held the Waza Flo to only 3 shots in the quarter and led 1-0 after the end of the first.
The Blast extended their lead in the second when Vini Dantas, who leads the team in goals, recorded his 5th of the year assisted by Jinho Kim. At the 11:07 mark Jeremy Ortiz assisted Andrew Hoxie on his 3rd goal of the season. With seconds left in the quarter Jinho Kim set up Vini Dantas again for his second goal of the game. At the half the Blast led 4-0.
The Blast came out aggressive in the second half with 4 goals in the third quarter. A minute and a half into the second half Pat Healey pushed the Blast lead to 5 off an assist from Tony Donatelli. Andrew Hoxie recorded his second goal of the night off an assist from William Vanzela. At the 6:58 mark Levi Houpeau was able to steal the ball from the Waza goalkeeper for his second goal of the season. Jeremy Ortiz recorded his first Blast goal at the 8:22 mark off an assist from Pat Healey. The Blast entered the final quarter leading 8-0.
The Waza Flo got on the board in the fourth quarter with a goal from Ivan Campos but the Blast answered quickly when seconds later Andrew Hoxie recorded his third goal of the game for a hat trick. Onua Obasi recorded his first goal of the season off of Levi Houpeau’s second assist of the night to extend the lead to 9. With 1:15 remaining Lucas Roque scored his second goal of the night and his fifth of the season to seal the Blast victory. The final score was Blast 11 Waza Flo 1.
The Blast move to 3-0 on the season. Andrew Hoxie led the offense with 3 goals while Lucas Roque and Vini Dantas recorded 2 goals each. Jinho Kim and Levi Houpeau recorded 2 assists each and the Blast had 11 players record a point in the game. Goalkeeper, William Vanzela, recorded 3 saves. The Blast will travel to Harrisburg next Saturday, November 28th, to take on the Heat at 2:05p.m. from the Farm Show Arena.
