Island Soccer League Welcomed Players from Baltimore, Rockford and Philadelphia
A team of NISL players visited Bermuda in mid July to take part in the 2009 ISL All-Star Weekend. The 2009 ISL season concluded on June 25 with the Union defeating the Storm, 8-6, to capture the Championship. The ISL All-Star Game took place at National Stadium on Sunday, July 19 with the ISL All-Stars taking on a team comprised of NISL players.
The 2009 NISL Champion Baltimore Blast was represented by goalkeeper Sagu, forwards Denison Cabral, Giuliano Celenza and Carlos Garcia, midfielder Robbie Aristodemo and defender Mike Lookingland. Midfielders Matthew Stewart and Novi Marojevic and forward Bato Radoncic played for the Rockford Rampage and forward Anthony Maher and midfielders Ptah Myers and Richardinho represented the Philadelphia KiXX.
Led by two goals from Stewart, the NISL All-Stars defeated the ISL All-Stars, 4-2. The ISL took an early 1-0 lead on a goal from Angelo Simmons before Stewart tied the game at 1-1, then gave the NISL a 2-1 lead with his second goal. Lookingland extended the NISL's lead to 3-1 and Radoncic made it 4-1 before Cecoy Robinson cut the NISL lead to 4-2.

The 2009 ISL All-Star Weekend included the Commissioner’s Gala on Friday the 17th, a Legends game before the All-Star Game on Sunday and a series of public appearances by ISL and NISL players. A number of special guests attended the Commissioner’s Gala including the NISL players, Baltimore Blast Cheerleaders, Montell Jordan, Sam Jones, James “the Bone Crusher” Smith, Ed “Two Tall” Jones and Ken Easley. The ISL, Bermuda’s first pro soccer league, is open to citizens of Bermuda and all League matches are played at the National Stadium.
