David Bascome

Bascome, who has played professional indoor soccer for 17 years, is entering his third season as the Blast’s assistant coach. He was named to the assistant coaching position on October 12, 2006 and helped lead the team to the 2008 MISL Championship in his second season on the coaching staff. In his 17- year career, Bascome won three championships, all with the Blast. Career Highlights: Bascome ranks 12th all-time in the MISL with 1,055 points... He was just the 14th player in League history to pass the 1,000-point plateau... A five-time League All-Star, he is Harrisburg’s all-time leader in nearly every category (points, games played, total goals, blocks and game-winning goals). He scored 100+ points in four seasons. 2007-08 Season Highlights: Bascome scored one goal in the 15-13 loss in Monterrey (3/28/08) – it was the 300th two-point goal of his career... He had knee surgery in late February (2/21/08) and missed four games before returning to the playing field for Baltimore’s 13-0 win over Chicago (3/22/08)... Bascome led the Blast with two goals and two assists (six points) in the 12-6 win over the KiXX (1/19/08) win over the KiXX… He also scored two goals in the 15-2 win over New Jersey (1/4/08)... The 8-2 win over the KiXX was Bascome’s 100th Blast game. 2006-07 Season: Bascome returned to the playing field for the last two games of the regular season (3/30 and 3/31) for the first time since December 2nd when he left the Milwaukee game with a knee injury… He underwent surgery to repair the ACL in his left knee on December 14th. 2005-06 Season: Bascome ranked fourth on the Blast in points (25) during the regular season and won his second MISL Championship... He scored one goal in Milwaukee (3/12) to record the 100th point of his career in Baltimore... Bascome recorded one goal and three assists against St. Louis (11/19) to record the 1,000th point of his career… He was just the 14th player in League history to pass the 1,000-point plateau. 2004-05 Season: Bascome tied to rank fourth on the Blast with 39 points... He played in the 400th game of his career against Milwaukee (12/10) and recorded two goals in the game. 2003-04 Season: After 13 seasons of professional indoor soccer, Bascome won his first Championship... He ranked fourth on the Blast with 39 points... Bascome recorded two goals vs. San Diego (3/20) to pass the 400-goal mark in his career... He played for the International Team in the 2004 MISL-All Star Game. 2002-03 Season: He was named Second Team All-MISL and MISL Offensive Player of the Week (10/6)... In 36 games he recorded 90 points to lead the Heat in points and tie for sixth in the MISL... He led the League in power-play goals (15), ranked second in two-point goals (38) and third in total goals (40)... He was just the 16th player in League history to surpass the 900-point plateau. 2001-02 Season: He was named Second Team All-MISL despite a season-ending knee injury (3/17)... He played in his fourth League All Star Game. 2000-01 Season: Bascome was the runner up to Gino DiFlorio for NPSL MVP and played in the All Star Game. 1998-99 Season: He represented the Heat in the All-Star Game. 1996-97 Season: He represented the Heat in the All-Star Game. 1994-95 Season: The Heat advanced to the League Finals but lost, 4 games to none, to St. Louis. Outdoor: He spent the 2004 summer season with the Harrisburg City Islanders of the PDL. Personal: Bascome has three sons, Khalan, Kyle and Kata, and writes a regular column for the Royal Gazette in Bermuda... He spends the offseason in Bermuda and is the Commissioner of the Island Soccer League (ISL)... The ISL kicked off in 2007 and completed its second season in August... The 2008 ISL All-Star Game was televised on Fox Soccer Channel... The ISL, Bermuda’s first pro soccer league, is open to citizens of Bermuda and all League matches are played at the National Stadium. College: He attended Anderson Community College in South Carolina. Coaching Experience: Bascome served as the assistant coach of the Harrisburg Heat for the 2001-02 season... He also was the Assistant Coach for the Lebanon Valley College soccer team in 1993 and 1994.
